Service Description

Puberty can be confusing and overwhelming for any young person—but for autistic teenagers, the changes can feel even more intense and unpredictable. Puberty Blues is a structured, autism-informed program that helps teens make sense of puberty through clear, practical, and respectful education. Based on Family Planning NSW’s trusted puberty resources, this program has been thoughtfully adapted by Nelle Frances to meet the unique sensory, cognitive and emotional needs of autistic teens. Parents are invited to select content that best matches their child’s age and stage—whether pre-pubescent, going through puberty, or transitioning into young adulthood. Each session includes a 10–15 minute parent check-in at the end, where we share what was covered in that day’s session. This ensures parents feel informed, prepared to support their child at home, and ready to respond to any questions that might arise between sessions. With visual supports, real-life scenarios, and straightforward language, Puberty Blues helps autistic teens build confidence, self-awareness and a healthy understanding of their changing body—all in a safe, predictable, and neuroaffirming space.
